MAPLE CANDIED & SALTED PECANS
The perfect Treats for your sweet and salty cravings.
Here’s what you need.
- 200g Pecan nuts
- 100ml dark maple syrup
- flaky sea salt
Here’s how to make them!
- TOAST pecans in a sauté pan. Over low to medium heat, toast your nuts in a dry pan until you can smell a nice nutty toasty aroma in the air.
- SWEET JESUS. Gently poor in the maple Syrup to coat the nuts completely.
- SIM SIMMER. Cook gently on medium heat until the maple syrup comes to a low simmer. We’re looking for small, gentle bubbles here!
- SIM SIMMER SO MORE. Continue simmering until the liquid has almost completely evaporated. Then reduce to the lowest setting that will still create the occasional bubble. The maple syrup at this point will go from thick and sticky to a crystalized and firm texture.
-
MANS NEED TO COOL IT. Cover a large flat bowl or sheet pan with parchment paper and spread the candied pecans out. Use your spoon or spatula to break apart the clumps. They are dangerously hot so be very careful at this point!
- SALTY While they are still warm and slightly sticky on the surface. Sprinkle them with a flakey or coarse sea salt and and shake the tray or bowl lightly to coat evenly and break them apart even better.
- COOL COMPLETELY. Enjoy immediately after cooling or store them in an airtight container for a couple of weeks.
